Go Giiist! Go Giiist! Go! Go! Go Giiiist!
The gist! MVP of the year! We watched Taxi Driver - directed by Martin Scorsese (1976). Even tides of murder, murky slum riddled New York, and a true towel throw to political campaigning. Taxi Driver is like our younger brother's Blood Simple - directed by Ethan and Joel Coen (1985), and Drive - directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (2011) bully of a brother. It hits every part of film noir, even an internal monologue that sounds like Holden Caulfield's diary. Though slow and out of touch, Taxi Driver still knows how to tell a psychotic break from backwards to forwards. Next week we watch Lady Bird - directed by Greta Gerwig (2018), a story that knows teenage life front to back.
For more of the same, please go back and listen to our other meetings from the Fall 2020 semester. You can also join in on the fun and watch a movie with us! Contact the Facebook page, email us, or start your own watch party at home!
See you all next week!
