It has been some time. Last week we watched Willy's Wonderland - directed by Kevin Lewis (2021). It is our tradition as a Film Society to watch what has been an era of bad Nicolas Cage movies. Willy's Wonderland being the latest addition to our collection, has taken its spot and sits proudly. Color Out of Space - directed by Richard Stanley (2020), and Mandy - directed by Panos Cosmatos (2018), were season closers for Film Society's Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters. It is in this tradition that we close Film Society's Spring 2021 semester with Willy's. Nicolas Cage is our silent protagonist in this rendition of the popular horror setting: beaten down 70s/90s arcade with animated animatronics. This film did miss a very popular cruise ship that left the dock after Five Night's At Freddy's released its fourth main series game Five Nights at Freddy's 4 in 2015. Though this movie was released at the wrong time, in the wrong place, and to the wrong people, it is still a Nicolas Cage horror flick; and we love it.
We will be wrapping up this semester's season in a grander letter next week, but no more movie discussions will be held until our Fall 2021 semester begins. If you would still like to follow us on our social media pages: Instagram and Facebook, they are there for the taking.
Thank you all, again, for joining us in this adventure. Be well, and watch lots of movies.
