Drum role please...*drum role*...ta-da, the Gist!
We watched Atlantis: The Lost Empire - directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise (2001). This is, surprisingly, our first venture into the world of animation in the new era of Film Society. The world of late 90s/early 00s animated films is very close to our hearts, so we wanted to share one of our favorites. Atlantis, like its many (gen-z) nostalgic movies brings discussion of how Disney, and companies like it, portrayed the newest millennia. A talented and diverse group of voice actors play similar characters, yet there is still some inaccuracies. We harp on what might not be the hottest take of twenty years ago, and we do so for quite some time. We educate the masses with our plethora of knowledge about the Greco-Roman World, as well as pontificate the existence of such a culture as Atlantean. Wait till we get to Treasure Planet!
For more of the same, please go back and listen to our other meetings from the Fall 2020 semester. You can also join in on the fun and watch a movie with us! Contact the Facebook page, email us, or start your own watch party at home!
Thank you for coming when you bothered. We hope to be pleasured by your presence soon!
